Draft 2016 Collaborative EMS Protocols: Comment Period

Letter from Dr. Brian Walters in regards to the Comment Period for the Draft 2016 Collaborative EMS Protocols:

It is my pleasure to introduce the Draft 2016 Collaborative EMS Protocols and open them for a public comment period. These have been worked on as a team effort by physicians, paramedics, educators and administrators from Westchester to Buffalo and north to Watertown and Plattsburgh. Indeed, this has been an exciting collaborative effort.

As you review these you will see changes from your current protocols, but please realize that these changes have been made through extensive discussion and compromise. In working on these protocols we have melded existing protocols from across the state, best practice guidelines and available medical evidence into one set of protocols. We believe this document melds the best from each of the current protocols into a single document that can best serve our providers, our educators and most importantly, our patients.
We will collect any comments that you have about the protocols on the following survey site. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ProtocolSurvey2016 Please be certain to include your name, contact email address and telephone number so that we can get back to you directly should we have any questions.

When approved by the State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee and the State Emergency Medical Services Council these protocols will be rolled out regionally across New York. We are extremely excited about standardizing patient care across much of New York.

Thank you for reviewing these protocols.

Sincerely,
Brian M. Walters, DO
WREMAC Chairman
