*****2019 BLS/ALS Protocol Update*****

Regarding the recent roll out of the new NYS BLS protocols and the ALS Collaborative protocols, there has been tremendous feedback to where to find the protocols, what is involved in rolling them out, when are they rolling out, where is the training, etc... I am hoping this will clear somethings up. First let me attach some important information:

EMS Nation has taking some time to create some videos pertaining to the protocol changes that have occurred. I have attached a link to access those videos. Understand, this is something that can be used as OPTIONAL training in ADDITION to the official training being created. Regardless if you choose to watch them, with as an individual or agency level, you must still complete the training that is going to be required of the WREMAC. The following is a reminder of the WREMAC's position on this rollout:

  1. The WREMAC expects to release regional training and education standards for the BLS and ALS protocol roll outs in the next two months.
  2. Until such time when the training and education standards have been rolled out by the WREMAC, no WREMAC agency may utilize the new BLS or ALS protocols.
  3. Once the education standards are released, agencies will have at least 60 days to meet these standards and, upon complying with the standards, will then be permitted to use the new BLS and ALS protocols.
The link to the videos at EMS Nation is - https://emsnation.libsyn.com/. Video episodes number 77 to 88 are related to the BLS protocols at this time. I encourage that you watch these and in fact, they make a good opportunity for agency level training.

Lastly, please be patient. We understand that there has been some mixed communication regarding this rollout and we are working to get all the necessary information to you as providers to help make this transition. As soon as I know, you will know. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me and I will do what I can to get you answers (Robert McCartin - rmccartin@lakeplains.org or 585-345-6110)
